Youth Competitive Program

For ages 6-16 with soccer experience

Subhead: ages, facilities, lorem ipsum dolor.

Overview

The Averill Park Youth Soccer League Competitive Program provides a more rigorous level of training and play for players who seek a higher level of soccer than offered through our recreational soccer program. If your child has played at least one season of recreational soccer and has expressed an interest in a more competitive level of soccer, our travel program is a great choice! Players should demonstrate a higher level of ability and interest and families should understand that a greater commitment is required.

All teams are coached by trained parent or professional coaches.  Players receive weekly skills training by Beestera Soccer Training, Inc. Goalie training is also offered during the winter and Spring seasons.

Seasons

There are three seasons of competitive soccer each year: Fall, Winter, and Spring

The competitive season begins in the fall. For age levels by birth year, click here

All seasons include at least 2 weekly practices and 1 game (depending on season). Outdoor practices are held at Algonquin Middle School.  Indoor practices are held at a local indoor soccer facility, including Afrims, HVCC, the Training Zone, and the Fieldhouse of Canaan.

Fall competitive soccer is played outside at the Afrim's Sports Park. APYSL typically fields a coed 8U team and single-gender teams at the 10U and 12U levels.  More information about the fall program can be found here.

Winter indoor soccer is played inside at a local Afrims facility.  APYSL typically fields a coed 8U team and single gender teams at the 10U, 12U, and 14U levels (16U may also play depending on interest).

Spring competitive soccer is played outside at club fields around the capital region, including our home fields at Algonquin Middle School.  APYSL participates as part of the Capital District Youth Soccer League and typically fields a coed 8U team and single gender teams at the 10U, 12U, and 14U levels (16U may also play depending on interest).
